Freshly Made Sketches: Always Praying

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today we have a sketch by...me!!

It is funny how sketches happen.  This came about because of a new table runner on my dining room table (I need to hide a long scratch until I can get around to dealing with it.) I stood back and studied it and realized two things: #1 the runner was totally the wrong color and #2 there was a sketch in it!!

Of course it helped that the sketch gave me an excuse to order the butterfly and wildflower die that were on my wishlist!

Have fun with it - I am looking forward to seeing what you do with this sketch!!

With my apologies, it appears that the sentiment that I picked is retired.  The Always die and the Always & Forever stamp set were from Simon Says Stamp but they are not showing up now.

Taylored Expressions: Sip, Sip Hooray!

No matter that the calendar says summer starts on June 20th, it really starts right now with the three-day weekend to celebrate Memorial Day.   I don't think there's much better on a hot summer day than fresh-squeezed lemonade...with an umbrella for shade!

TE Sip, Sip Hooray

My oldest is home from college and my youngest just finished his junior year of high school. None of us work tomorrow - so I put my foot down and insisted on family time.  We're doing barbecue (my husband uses a meat smoker - it's heavenly all day long!)  Sadly, the weather forecast is fairly stormy so my fantasy of a long walk, maybe some frisbee or badminton, then sitting on the deck probably won't come true.  But our beloved Colorado Rockies baseball team (who just happen to be at the top of the league!) play in the afternoon so we may settle in to the lounge chairs with the game on and probably play some cards.  This may not seem particularly exciting but usually it seems like we are all running in different directions so I plan on enjoying the time together - no matter what we're doing!

Freshly Made Sketches: Just Pray

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today we have a sketch by Linda.

I didn't stray from the sketch at all - I even used flowers and placed them in the same way!!  (OK - I used a rectangle instead of a square, but I would have used a square had they been in stock when I placed my last order.)  It was a little like Linda was reading my mind because I was able to use four things from a recent order (before they got lost in my never-used stash!!)  The frame, the flowers, the sentiment and the Nuvo Jewel Drops!

Have fun with this sketch!!  It's wide open for possibilities (and you don't even have to use flowers!)

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Frosting

Just a reminder that there is still time to play along with the challenge at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Frosting.

I have two sons - now ages 17 and 21.  For reasons I can't begin to explain - they don't do frosting. (One of them never did pudding or jello either!)  But I do do frosting!  When they were young and wanted grocery store theme cakes for their birthday - I still ordered the sugared frosting.  They had no idea there was a whipped cream type alternative. Then I always took the corner piece with the piles of frosting - and even then, ate the frosting that they scraped off their pieces!

CC Frosting

As soon as I saw the "Frosting" theme - I had a set of stamps calling my name!!  I love the dimension you can get from layered stamp sets.  This is Simply Stamped - Cupcakes from Taylored Expressions.

CC Frosting CloseUp

I used Cupcake Ink for the solid base layer.  Then the middle layer is Pink Champagne stamped off once.  The top layer is full strength Pink Champagne.  The set also comes with a layered set for the cupcake base - but I wanted a hint of pattern so I die cut the base and then dug out my old crimper to add the dimension.

The "frame" is actually a label die.  I was digging through my stash and came up with Label Stacklets 7 as a nice cupcake-shaped label for a sentiment (I was going to use the smaller one).  Then I saw that the big one went all the way across the card front and thought it would frame the cupcake quite nicely!!  Finally, I embossed with Bead Board and sprinkled with a few sequins.
