Freshly Made Sketches: Big Black Balloon

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today we have a sketch by Jen Mitchell.

I have a lot of big sentiments in my stash and I'm never quite certain what to do with them. On the one hand, they fill space and look bold. On the other hand, I'm never quite certain what else to add to make it a creative card. I love this sketch, because it deals with my issues. The bold sentiment is along the bottom, crossing over both layers to tie it together, with plenty of room to add some fun stuff!

FMS Big Black Balloon

These aren't new products, but they are new-to-me.  I cleaned out three die sets from my not-yet-used-stash!!  (Although I probably need to put the balloon back in the stash because it's actually a shaker die and clearly I didn't use it remotely like a shaker.)  The dies are all Papertrey Ink (linked below). The sentiment die comes with a coordinating stamp set which I didn't get because I figured I could find all the coordinating words in other stamp sets that I already owned. In retrospect, this was a mistake, because it took me awhile to find a stand-alone "wishes" die. I have lots that are just a part of sentiments, but I hate selectively inking a word.

I hope to see you play along - there's lot of open space on this one to do your own thing.

SUPPLY LIST

I could only find a link for a 12x12 paper pad that includes the background paper - but I actually used a 6x6 pad so my patterns are smaller.  The paper for the balloon comes from the Pebbles Basics Cardmaking Pad 2 full of pre-made card bases that I just cut into. I was thrilled to see the pink cast to the black polka dot which worked perfectly!

  3. I love the sepia tones of this card and I don't care if the balloon is a shaker masquerading as an actual balloon because it looks fabulous! So glad you could use one of your big sentiment dies. Lookin' good!
