I have a couple of new hanging wreath sets and they seemed like a great choice for this sketch. A lovely hanging wreath, a beautiful Christmas sentiment, a sprinkle of sequins - my type of card! Have you ever had one of those days where the simplest of things don't work? There shouldn't have been anything hard about this card but I just wasn't happy with anything that I did. And then when I was happy with something, I would invariably smudge it. I finally swept it all off my desk and decided to go as far away from Christmas and Christmas colors as I could get. I checked out my never-been-used stash and came up with this charming airplane, found some bold paper - and it all came together in less than 10 minutes!
- Stamps: The Cat's Pajamas Flying By
- Paper: Simon Says Soft Navy, Fancy Pants As You Wish 6x6
- Ink: Simon Says Soft Navy, Goldenlocks, Memento Black and Copics
- Accessories: Misc clear sequins
The paper is fabulous and the krazy kat pilot rocks! Such a fun card with a perfect sentiment!
ReplyDeleteGreat take on this sketch, Kim! That paper looks awesome with that image and I love the sentiment!!!
ReplyDeleteClever... those stripes provides the perfect place for the focal point!
ReplyDelete... and a sentiment I should remember!
Thanks for always providing the most awesome inspiration Kim!
CA-UUUUTE!!! LOVE the bold chevron stripes, and you can't go wrong with Sprinkle from TCP! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, such a FUN card! ha, ha, I think every crafter has those kind of days too! Anyway, this card just turned out perfect and such a great image, ha, ha.
ReplyDeleteGreat sentiment and I love your outlined clouds!
And the way the diagonals are off centred adds a little extra to the bold feel of your card just like the vibrant colorcombo and the way you placed this fun image. :-)
What I'm trying to say is that I totally like your card, ha, ha, as always.
Bye,
Marjolein
Such a fun and happy card, I love how kept the base colorful and focal piece CAS
ReplyDeleteThis cat and his plane are so adorable and I think your card is just gorgeous - and a perfect spot for the diagonal lines to meet - it really draws your eye to the focal point.
ReplyDeleteAwesome card I love that sentiment <3
ReplyDeleteOh good grief could this BE any cuter!! Great job Kim!!
ReplyDeleteToo darn cute!!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes starting over after a couple of false starts is just the thing the doctor ordered! I love the chevron background and the flying cat image is too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love how you've used that fabulous dsp on this card! It seems like the sentiment on this card was perfect for you and your experience with using this sketch. All of your frustration led to a fun and beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that paper on this card. It adds so much fun. I had several days of smudging and making a mess a few weeks ago and man! So frustrating. Starting over was definitely good for you because this card is just awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is fabulous! I love that super fun airplane and that very cool DSP! Such a fun card! My boys can't see that airplane though or they'll be requesting that I buy it!!!
ReplyDeleteSo darn cute Kim. I love the paper, image and great sentiment.
ReplyDeleteThis is design perfection! I love the plane, the sentiment and it all works so well with the DSP. FABULOUS card, Kim! I'm sorry that the first cards didn't work out, but I'm also glad they didn't so this one could be created!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the inevitable disconnect between vision and execution. I appear to be in the throes of that quite deeply, at present. Your decision to 'step away from the wreath' has resulted in a most darling, inspiring card indeed. The sentiment resonates with me: I do have a fear of flying. Big fear. Hmmm...may have to address that, as I do really x really want to go to Disneyland. Anyway: I digress. Your card is awesome.
