Freshly Made Sketches: Stay Awake

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today we have a sketch by Amy at Amy's Paper Crafts.

I just got a new set that I knew that I had to use.  This is a set that I got to make cards for my son who is heading off to college in just a couple of months.  I think he'll like getting cards, but I know he'll love that I got a coffee stamp set and I'll enclose Starbuck's gift cards!

FMS Stay Awake

The colors didn't photograph exactly as they are in real life.  I love being able to tailor cards to the recipient and this card was done to match his new school colors of brown and gold (it's a little more gold in real life), plus a little green to mimic Starbucks.  I attempted to do streaks of chocolate syrup because my guy definitely likes the sweet frou-frou drinks!  This will be particularly meaningful to him.  He was accepted at five schools and was really stressed out about making a decision.  We told him that any of the five would be great and that something - probably something small - would "speak" to him and he would know which school he wanted to attend.  He's never admitted it, but I think the Starbucks in the library influenced his decision to attend Valparaiso!

It's a fun sketch and, as usual, the Freshly Made Sketches designers have created an amazing variety of cards for inspiration.  Check it out on the  Freshly Made Sketches blog and then play along!  We love to see what you create.

SUPPLY LIST

The yellow is Stampin' Up Summer Starfruit.  The sequins were Chocolate Iridescent by Ellen Hutson.

  13. The background story of your card is a delight to read; I'm glad a 'small' yet significant 'thing' spoke to your son. Even though his college of choice is far from home, he's made an excellent decision...and the cards you'll be sending him will let him know how much he's missed. As for your card: love x love it!
