My Creative Boys

My boys (including the husband) asked me to make a card for a nice young man in our church who is a freshman in college, on a lacrosse scholarship, and blew out his knee during his first college game.

First, I was very impressed that my boys actually thought about sending a card - AND they splurged on an Inta Juice gift card.

Second, I was a little annoyed when I got the list of don'ts: no bling, no ribbon, no patterned paper, no coloring, nothing popped or dangling, and definitely, without a doubt, no glitter.  (Have they ever looked at my cards, how often do I ever use glitter??!)

Third, then they impressed me with a very creative idea.  They wanted a lacrosse stick, broken, with a band-aid and a "OOPS".  I had to let them down with the "oops" but I did have an "uh-oh".

Not quite my usual card - but my boys are thrilled!!  (I really should have added some bling just to be annoying!)

  • Stamps: Judikins
  • Paper: Stampin' Up Confetti Tan, Naturals White, black, PTI Smokey Shadow
  • Ink: black
  • Accessories: bandaid, Quickutz lacrosse stick

  1. Oh, that's fantastic, Kim! I love your commentary almost as much as I love the card. Such thoughtful boys/young men, and such a wonderful creative Mum!

  2. I'm with them...this is a cool card! Love the band aid idea, they pretty much had a great design and you did a great job with it Kim :0)

  3. Love the card! Maybe we should get ideas from non card makers more often. Very creative.

  4. LOL! I love that they didn't want anything "dangling"! Boys huh? They did come up with a cute idea though and your execution is flawless as always! :)

  5. I think you've hit the brief perfectly! I think your boys are very caring. So sorry to hear about the young man's knee though - I do hope he gets well soon.

  6. Absoluely fabulous Kim
    simplicity at it's best!

Thank you for your comments on my latest card. i usually apply no skill to my cards, but, I do enjoy placing bits of paper together! [Big smily face]

  7. LOL, such a great story and adorable card, Kim!

  8. Your boys are very thoughtful! Maybe you could have hidden a bit of bling under the bandaid?
