It's time for the monthly
Cloud9 challenge for fans of
WPlus9 stamps. This month's challenge is to use this inspiration picture...
I was immediately attracted to the cascading bird cages. I have the MOST darling WPlus9 bird house dies and decided to use those for the "cascade". I have to tell you that these dies come with a sweet little roof. Having seen the roof, I feel like my bird houses are missing something - but the card was just too full with three little roofs so I've convinced myself that they can stand alone!
I had wanted to add the pop of color with the flowers, but I am loving the colors at
Stampin' Royalty this week so decided to stick with those.
This is the cat...
Can you see the devilish gleam in her eyes?
She is a particularly annoying creature, but she has one redeeming quality...she thinks she is a dog and LOVES to fetch. She scampers after her "toys", then comes back with this jaunty walk - bow-legged and broad-shouldered - "Look at me, Mom, I got it! I got it!!"
As I was making this card, I notice she's standing there in her tough, I-got-it pose, so since it's early and we were the only ones up, I started a conversation. "Whatcha got girl?...your favorite peppermint candy? (she loves chasing anything wrapped in cellophane)...your nerf dart?...or (my personal favorite to the chagrin of my men)...a tampon?? (the crinkly wrapper is so much fun!)."
She dropped her conquest at my feet.
Can you guess what it was?

The missing itty bitty leaf die!!!
I have no idea where she came up with it given we spent an hour and a half looking for it...but she is now officially forgiven for the early morning wake up call.
(And I have just spent the last half hour finding new ways to store my dies given she clearly has a new favorite toy!)
I'm also entering this at Simon Says Put a Stamp On It.

Your post made me laugh! I also have a cat that loves to wake me up in the middle of the night. She never jumps in my bed but cries until I get her. She woke me at 4 am this morning by chewing on the plastic wrapper of my dsp, urgh, then I had to chase her so I could bring her to bed, where she so lovingly snuggled on my chest and went to sleep 20 minutes before the alarm went off :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, I LOVE your card. The embossed tree (gasp) with the birdhouses hanging oh so perfectly with just a pop of color. This is a winner!
I've always know cats are sneaky... Thanks for stopping by my blog. Love this card and I think you are the only one who misses the roof (s). The card is perfectly simple. I would love to play with that photo too, but I don't have any product (will have to work on that.)
ReplyDeleteLove your kitty story! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd love you card! The embossed tree is so beautiful with the hanging birdhouses. I don't have this die but wished I did when I saw the inspiration photo! Great job and lovely color story too!
You've made so many fabulous cards Kim, but I think this is now my favorite! LOVE the embossing on the two colors and those sweet birdhouse!
ReplyDeleteHOORAY on finding the die...or your cat finding the die!!
Love the bird houses hanging from your embossed tree! Your kitty is too cute! I used to have a fetching kitty as well. Her love was peppermint candy and balls of masking tape. I currently have a kitty who insists on taking all the bubble wrap he can get his paws on. They sure can make crafting an adventure at times! Glad your die showed up though.
ReplyDeleteNothing else is needed! This is perfect as is. Hope your kitty doesn't find your new hiding place.
ReplyDeleteKim, such a perfect take on the inspiration photo! The embossed tree is stunning, and it may be a tiny detail, but the little bows on your birdhouses are just perfect! A beautiful card. So glad your kitty returned your missing die - sneaky for sure! Glad that you could join us for this month's Cloud9 Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteWOW, Kim this has to be my favorite card from you! Simply brilliant! Love the way you embossed on two different cards, how you tied flow to hang from the tree. Brilliant. :)
ReplyDeleteAnother PERFECT creation! Wow, Kim! Gold star! More smiles for your funny story! I am so glad you found your die! I can imagine how frustrating it was to lose it! Hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat kitty story! And I love your card - beautiful colors and the birdhouses are fine without their roofs. Thanks so much for sharing this with us at the Simon Says Stamp challenge, and good luck!
ReplyDeleteYour card is so sweet, Kim! They are adorable without their fancy roofs!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that Mrs. Imp Catdog presented you with your missing die! I just love how funny life is like that and really enjoyed your post! TFS!
They totally work without the roofs and I love the embossed tree.
ReplyDeleteYour cat rocks! I think she deserves a tin of tuna for that find!
Your post had me chuckling! I often misplace stamping items as well, but don't have the luck you do in finding them! Great card by the way!
ReplyDeleteWow, I LOVE your card! The embossed tree looks awesome with the sweet hanging birdhouses. They look perfect without roofs, by the way! Every detail is so beautifully done! Loved your cat story too! Of our five cats only one would play fetch but she was such fun! Now we have two dogs--one who acts like a cat so it all works out!

I love your post! First, my jaw dropped when I saw your card. It is so so so beautiful, I love the whole thing, especially that tree!!! And I am happy you found your die! I have a small dog and never really considered that he might be interested in die thievery, but I may need to reconsider that now. Your cat is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh shnap! I got so distracted that I forgot to say thanks for joining us on the Cloud9 blog!
