TE Sneak Peeks Day 3: Coffin Treats and Ghost Tags

It's day 3 of sneak peeks for the August release from Taylored Expressions! Today I have some fun Halloween treats - pre-cut coffin treat boxes - and some charming little ghosts.  All of the new products that you see today will be available tomorrow.  Be sure to check out each of the creative team members' blogs for all of the sneak peeks - starting with the Taylored Expressions blog.

My first project is so easy to make - the Coffin Treat Boxes come pre-cut - you just have to glue!!

Then to make it even easier - there are dies sized to fit the coffin (or the dies would be great on the front of cards).  I used the basic set of Label Stacklets 11.  There are also dies in a coffin shape with a scene cut into them - there's a creepy cat, a haunted house (both in From the Crypt - Haunted) and there's a big spider from From the Crypt - Creepy (Be sure to check out the TE blog for details on how to get this particular die and also to check out the rest of the design team.)

For my card, using the basic shape, I folded a piece of Plum Punch cardstock then cut the shape with one side of the die slightly off the folded edge.  That leaves the folded edge uncut and it will open like a little card!! I put a cute little Dracula and sentiment from Mum's the Word Stamp & Die Combo in the open part.

Finally - you can see that the top of the Coffin Treat Boxes comes off so you can fill it up with something fun.  (Isn't it amazing that I found pumpkin candy in July when I was taking these pictures??!!  I learned my lesson last year and made sure I kept a small stash of Halloween candy for the whole year to use in pictures this year!)

Then I used another new product to make a trio of gift giving tags.  The Be Somebody Stamp & Die Combo has the funniest little ghosts and some really great sentiments to go with them.

Aren't the sentiments fun??!  They are a bit easier to see in this photo.

Besides the ghosts, there are a number of other new products on these tags.  The mirror is Little Bits - Ornate Frame.  Then there's Little Bits - Candlelabra and I used the big bird and pumpkin from Sitting Pretty - Halloween Accessories. The tags are the previously released Tag Stacklets 3 and of course, there's a sprinkling of coordinating enamel shapes!

Tomorrow I'll have one more Halloween card (using the slider days from the last release!) and a pumpkin card using the new layered pumpkin and jack-o-lantern set.  Be sure to head over to the TE Blog for links to the rest of the creative team and to enter the question of the day contest.

Freshly Made Sketches: With Sympathy

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today we have a sketch by me!!  (I always get a little nervous when I bring you the sketch - I hope you have fun with it!!

My plan when I put the sketch together was to use bold patterned papers.  I thought a card would still look fresh with small strips of those bold patterns.  As you can see - I ended up going an entirely different direction.  It always amazes me how the same sketch can look so different on different cards!

MFT's Rectangle Word Window Frames are the longest, skinniest rectangles that I have - so instead of using them as a frame, I just cut the longer rectangles out of the front of my card using the medium window die. Sadly, the medium die and the small die together were a little too long for the card so I ended up just cutting pieces of cardstock to the right size for the diagonal stripes instead of a window.

The only thing not from MFT on my card were the mini butterflies - but how perfect that they have the same outline look as the rose!

I look forward to seeing you playing along!

TE Sneak Peeks Day 2: It's Halloween!

It's day 2 of sneak peeks for the August release from Taylored Expressions! Today is going to be all about Halloween - cats and witches and even a ghost town.  All of the new products you see today will be available on Thursday, August 3rd. Be sure to check out each of the creative team members' blogs for all of the sneak peeks - starting with the Taylored Expressions blog.

This release includes the cutest little cat - Little Bits - Cat. He's not obviously Halloween so could be used for many different occasions.  But given I've had Halloween on the mind for this release, I decided to make him a witch's cat!

Taylored Expressions A Witch's Cat

I went for a previously released sentiment from Grumplings in Costume because it was totally perfect for my scene!

Not only is Little Bits - Cat new, but also Sitting Pretty Halloween Accessories from which I got the hat, shoes, skull, big spider and cobwebs.  Of course, this is designed to go with the entire Sitting Pretty line which will be fabulous, but I loved all the different elements so used them for this scene.

All the other dies are listed in the supply list.  (FYI - the Arbor Sign Post is the hat rack!)

Another great new die is the Ghost Town Border.  I paired it with the birds on a line from Skinny Mini Halloween Borders for this spooky scene

Taylored Expressions Ghost Town

I love Taylored Expressions' attention to detail. The Ghost Town Border die comes with little pieces so it's easy to put light behind the windows.  It also comes with the tiny little ghost.  I decided there's a ghostly party going on in that house!!

Taylored Expressions Ghost Town

The birds come from the new Skinny Mini Halloween Borders.  I wanted to add some dimension with the birds in the foreground backed by white for moonglow (it's more obvious in the first picture) and some Rolling Hills to put the ghost town in the background.  The sentiment is from the newest addition to the Simply Said line - Simply Said Halloween.

Tomorrow I'll be back with a dimensional project that will be perfect for your Halloween treats - and I have a set of Halloween tags with the cutest little ghosts and sentiments that you've ever seen!  Be sure to head over to the TE Blog for links to the rest of the creative team and to enter the question of the day contest.
