Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Tasty Tropics

It's time for a new challenge at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Tasty Tropics.

I don't have a coconut in my stash, but I do have a layered pineapple in my stash of not-yet-use stamps - so I am thrilled with this inspiration photo!!

CC Tasty Tropics

I love the pop of purple and that's why I love challenges.  I am truly not an overly creative person - or at least I don't step far out of my box. I would not have thought of a pop of purple. Challenges give me ideas and push me in fun directions.  The purple is the perfect contrast to all of the pineapple colors.

Be sure to check out our guest for this challenge:

Freshly Made Sketches: Hogs & Kisses

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today we have a sketch by Karren.

I did a farm card last week and shared fond memories of summers on my grandparent's farm in eastern South Dakota. I must have still had those memories in my thoughts as I sat down to work on this card - because I saw a sunrise over a field.

FMS Hogs & Kisses.

I have no idea why I added a pig.  Grandpa and Grandma did not have pigs. I've probably offended them both given they raised prize-winning Hereford bulls! But that little guy looked out at me from the set of stamps and won my heart (and in all honesty, he fit in front of the sun!)

I hope to see everybody playing along - it's a wonderful, flexible sketch and I look forward to seeing the variety of cards that everybody makes!

Taylored Expressions: Enjoy the Journey

I have wanted to use the Taylored Expressions Sky High - Airplane die since it came out a couple of months ago, but I just didn't have any ideas.  I wanted to pair it with "enjoy the journey" as a card for when my son heads off to college this fall.  (In fairness, he'd probably prefer a jet or something more cool than this cute little plane - but I like it, so he's getting the cute little plane.)

The style of the card was driven by him being the recipient.  I think the little plane would be cute on a simple white card with a sky full of white die cut clouds (I'll have to try that one another time).  But my son needed more color.  I pulled out the Build a Scene 6x6 Paper Pad with the idea of it having nice basic patterns that I could build into a fun card.  Check it out!

TE Enjoy the Journey

There's leafy ground. The brick pattern is supposed to be brick wall/fence. I used the fun cloud paper and then some polka dots for the sun.  Even the pilot's scarf is patterned paper.

Although I do love the way the strips of paper look, I wanted to add a bit more interest, so I narrowed the card by about 3/8" of an inch and stuck the back of the airplane off the card.  The card is still a standard 4 1/4" wide which means it fits in an envelope.  The easiest way to do this is to use grid paper or a paper that is 4 1/4" wide and line it up.

TE Enjoy the Journey Detail

I do hope my son enjoys his journey.  He's taken the long way to get there, but I think he's finally found a goal and is excited about starting his own life. I still have a few months with him home, but I know it's going to get busier and busier for all of us. Now I have a card tucked away.

Merry Monday and Share Joy: Merry Chrismoose

I have had this idea and this stamp set out on my desk since early this week for the Merry Monday challenge to do a cute kid's Christmas card - and I still missed the deadline.  {Sad face} I was literally putting the photo on this post when the deadline passed.  ( I didn't have any words written or anything else - that's how close I was!)  You can tell I was in a wild hurry trying to get done in time because I didn't even get the top adhered straight!  Then the camera and internet gods were against me.  First dead camera battery. Then my internet is glacial today.  Does anybody else think the internet slows down in the heat?

Merry Monday Chrismoose

However, I am not late for the Share Joy challenge.  The challenge is to use the sketch, the tic-tac-toe or both, and clearly I used the sketch!  The rest of the challenge is to actually send the card and all I can do is promise that it will most definitely get sent this December!

Thanks to the good folks at Merry Monday Christmas Challenge who inspired me to make the card even though I didn't quite make it in time!

TE Release Day: Care & Comfort - Pets

It's here! All of the new products from Taylored Expressions are now available! Also be sure to head over to the Taylored Expressions blog for a few more sneak peeks and, if you've been leaving comments, see if you are a winner of the giveaways.

I have one more peek for you.

TE Care & Comfort Pets

This card uses the new stamp set Card & Comfort - Pets along with the die set Doghouse Accessories.  How wonderful to have a beautiful set of sentiments to use for the loss of a pet.

TE Care & Comfort Pets CloseUp

The pet bed is actually only two browns. The rim is a scrap of a natural cardstock, but the front and back of the bed are both toffee.  I just used my Versamark pad to rub on the back piece to darken it up.

So...time to go shopping!!  And be sure to run by the TE blog to see if you won a prize!

SUPPLY LIST

The enamel heart is from Illustrated Faith - She Blooms Mix which I got from Taylored Expressions but it has been out of stock.
