It's time for a new sketch at
Freshly Made Sketches! Today we have a sketch by
Karren.
I had a fabulous cardmaking weekend. But I have absolutely nothing to show for it except for memories!! I have a brand new 13-year old niece and a soon-to-be 10-year old niece who spent the weekend so we could celebrate their birthdays. We had plans to go places and do things - but we ended up making cards for an entire day. Actually - they made cards and I fetched supplies! They were thrilled with everything that I showed them. I knew stamping and coloring would be a hit - but then I showed them embossing folders and then I showed them die-cutting!! They were hooked. But I am exhausted and my crafting area will take weeks to organize again.
My card today reflects that. The paper is from a pad that they used. The flowers were in the stash of dies that was on top of the piles. The simplicity of it all is a reflection of my exhaustion!!! And the sentiment - - - I am definitely totally grateful - - - grateful for my charming nieces, for the joy and laughter of the weekend and the for the hobby that we shared!
I hope to see you playing along with our sketch this week!

How wonderful for you three ladies! A full day of crafting and making memories; something to treasure forever! Love the simplicity of your card, and the papers and colors are so happy. Last Fall, my sister and I spent a weekend crafting with our granddaughters...they're asking to come again and "make stuff!" I can so relate to the exhaustion and mess...but it was totally worth it!! ReplyDeleteI like the colors, this is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThe black just pops against the greens! Pretty card! Sounds like a fun day with your nieces!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a fabulous weekend! Your card is perfect and shows no signs of having been made by an exhausted card-maker! Gorgeous papers and the pops of black look so striking.
ReplyDeleteThis is clean and so fresh. I love these shades of green together. So glad you had a fun time stamping with your nieces. It sounds like you are well on your way to making some long-term stamping buddies.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a wonderful weekend and sure you have many wonderful memories to take away from it :) Absolutely adore this card! So clean and crisp - pinning it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card Kim! I love that paper and the big black flower! A weekend with your nieces sounds like so much fun! I would love to have some girls around!!!!
ReplyDeleteCrafting takes on whole new levels of joy and 're-organization' whenever I do so with my niece and nephew! They've become quite skilled with my Big Shot and Misti; last summer's big revelation was stencils. Embossing folders on the 'next time' radar, along with new batches of stamps/dies to play with. I'm thinking that one of the new Sizzix sidekicks might be worth an investment for traveling...will have to ponder that for a bit! So glad you and your nieces had precious time together; these are the kinds of things that make priceless memories. Your card is perfect as a showcase of the sketch but, more important, for expressing how grateful you are to have such special young 'budding craft-mates' in your life! Heart-warming!

What a wonderful story. I'm not sure this is a story of exhaustion or rather seeing your stash in a whole new way! Thank God for fresh eyes to show us what is right before us! Great card. I LOVE that mix of patterned paper for the background, and the heartfelt sentiment sums it all up perfectly!
