It's my husband's 55th birthday this weekend!!! Of all of the cards that I make, cards for my husband are absolutely the hardest. He is such a totally plain and basic kind of guy that
any decoration is too much. But..I'm a cardmaker...I have to add something. I did want to use the number "55" to play along with
CAS-ual Fridays Count Me In challenge. Then I made two entirely different cards.
I think this looks like my husband - although those few little dots might put it over into the "too much" category for him!
I actually did this next card first. I came up with the tag which I really liked - but then spent way too much time struggling with what to do with it. I'm using a sketch from Lisa at dahlhouse designs but even with this fabulous layout, I'm still feeling like the background could be different/more/less/something...I don't know?? What do you think? (Keeping in mind my very basic husband for whom the three patterns is likely going to be too much!)
Wowzers!

Oh, Kim, both cards are so fun and fresh and cool! LOVE!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are great! The first one is my favorite. I'm fortunate that my hubby has so many hobbies...which does make it easier when trying to pick a theme for him when I'm making cards...
ReplyDeleteI like both of them Kim!! But I suppose if he likes plain then the first one is probably best. What's with husbands and "too busy" anyway!?! The second is my fave though!!!
ReplyDeleteWoW!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE both cards!!!
The first one is great humour!
And the second one is such a perfect card for anyone who's turning 55!
Love how you shoved the numbers in eachother. ( sorry for my bad English, but I think you understand quite well what I'm trying to say here) :-)
Bye,
Marjolein
Love them both! I think this is a great age! wink wink!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't change a thing on either card! The first is maybe the most CAS. HBT your husband!
Kim, I'm tickled pink you used my sketch. You are so fabulously talented sweets. I LOVE both cards, but I think the hubs would love the first one more being so simple. But, "I" am in LOVE with your second one. You could send it to me when I turn 55!!! Hee hee. I love that background, it gives it a little somethin' somethin' going on in the background. Thank you so much for being inspired by wanna sketch, you've made my day!
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous cards Kim...love them both and those numbers are the best!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards but in our crowd as people join the 55 club, two nickles are taped inside birthday cards to mark the occasion. Everyone thinks is a stitch at parties and a big HB to him!
ReplyDeleteKim, I am loving both of your cards as I am sure your husband will too. My favorite though has to be the second one with that embossed background.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards :) my favorite is the second one and background in this one is just perfect
ReplyDeleteBoth are great ... but am leaning towards the first! The dots are definitely NOT too much! Back from hols ... trying to catch up! Hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteSimply wowzers Kim!!!
ReplyDeleteI love these cards...I think they are simple and totally cool!
ReplyDeleteSurely your husband would like either of these great cards! I absolutely love the embossed background on #2 - very rich & classy!
ReplyDeleteHusbands are definitely hard to create for! However, you've knocked it out of the park with both cards. Seriously love them and he surely will too! If forced, I'd go with #2, but love the first as well. I think it's the embossing on #2....Very cool. Bev
ReplyDeletehow fun are these!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are awesome! Love the tags, especially! Great reminder to use my own tags/numbers dies! Always inspiration to be found on your blog, Kim. Always!
