Weekend Wrap-Up 1

I love Saturdays.  Either we are all in our Colorado Rockies hiking or skiing, or we are home, everybody except me is sleeping in, and I am catching up on the week's card challenges.
My first card today is for Inkspirations.

The challenge was to use this sketch:

I didn't do anything fancy with the sketch.  I tried adding other colors, ribbons, etc. - but this gorgeous tree really needed to stand alone.

Christmas is one of the few times that I haul out my vast collection of embossing powders.  This card uses one of my all time favorites that I got a decade ago at a rubber stamp convention.  I am hoping to track down the company again because I have horded it carefully over the years but I am down to the bottom of the container.  It's Greenhorn Valley Art Stamps Fine Crystal Gold.  It doesn't heat up very smoothly but it makes up for it by being embedded with the most brilliantly colored crystal flecks. Someday I hope to learn to photograph that sparkle in all its glory.

I also embossed the brads so they coordinated with it.  Have you done that?  It's so very simple - just be sure to use a good tweezers or you will definitely be burning your fingers.

Heat the brad with your heat gun.
Dip the brad into your embossing powder.
If the powder doesn't stick, just heat it somewhere
Then just reheat with your embossing gun
and it sticks and sparkles just like your image!!
  • Stamps: Stampin' Up Solemn Stillness, Paper Trey Signature Christmas
  • Inks: Stampin' Up Pear Pizzazz, Versamark
  • Paper: Stampin' Up Pear Pizzazz CS and Pear Pizzazz dsp
  • Accessories: Greenhorn Valley Art Stamp embossing powder, Sizzix embossing folder

Sadly, I can't count this toward my 2010 goal of making sure that all of my Stampin' Up sets see ink.  I got the card all done, went to record it and realized I had counted this set already.  I looked back and realized that I had used the sentiment.  I am happy that I have now used the main image, but it doesn't count!

  1. This is just lovely. I'm so happy you didn't mess with the sketch as you're right, that tree is beautiful on its own. Great job and thanks for playing along this week.
