My husband is coming up on a big birthday. I saw this sentiment stamp a few months ago and knew it was perfect.  Then I decided to feature it on the outside of the card because when people display cards that's what they see and this sentiment was too good to hide. I was struggling on how to use it and luckily saw the sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. And then for even more inspiration, I saw the colors at As You See It which are a fun mix of masculine grays/krafts plus bright colors for a birthday.

The sentiment was new-to-me.  Many of the other products are long gone (sorry!)  That's what happens when I am finally finishing up a massive organization/clean out project.  I see things from the olden days that have gotten lost in the shuffle and I just have to use them.  Then of course they never get "cleaned out".  The little icons are from some very old embosslits by Stampin' Up. The tag is an old Papertrey Ink. (Although I never clean out basic stuff like tags or rectangles/square/circles or backgrounds - you just never know when that exact size or style might come in handy!!)  The embossing folder is an old Taylored Expressions.  Sad story - when we moved to this house about five years ago, one of the things I chose to downsize was a drawerful of embossing folders.  They had been a huge deal on cards, then five years ago they weren't so huge, then after I downsized they became huge again.  So I had to start my collection over - ugh. Teaches me to try to organize and downsize!!

So everything on this card is old - but it's just right for my old recipient!!

A big thank you to As You See It and Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for the inspiration!

  3. Haha! I'm still chuckling as I'm writing this comment! That sentiment is so on the money! That's where my mind goes, too! And I often need shock recovery when I realize how old the "new" things are! Oh, well! I love all the crisp detail on your fun card, too! 5. Wow! I absolutely love this card! I like that you used the same embossing folder but in two colors, the pop of color on the grey tag and that sentiment! I need that sentiment cause it says it all! Brilliant job! Thanks for playing along with As You See It!

  8. That sentiment is definitely too good to hide on the inside Kim - and I am definitely old enough to find it funny, I can totally identify!! I love that the sentiment and tag are the main focus, yet the embossed panels and fun ephemera add detail too. Fabulous! Thanks for playing along with us over at As You See It this week!

  10. Love this, people do that to me all the time, I go straight to the 70's not the 90's! I love the cardstock and embossing, so bright, bold and vibrant! Thanks for playing along with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (AHSC).

  12. What a total beauty! Great combination of challenges. I think you've been really successful at using the mix of brights and neutrals. The layout is great but the sentiment.... how utterly perfect. Sadly, I too am in total agreement with it. Thanks so much for joining in with us at As You See It.

  13. What a great card. I love the texture and how the embossing really helped take the card to the next level. Plus that sentiment is too accurate!

I am in the middle of a clean out, too and am rediscovering some lost gems in my stash. Too bad they distract me from cleaning...

Thank you for joining us this week at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and look forward to seeing you again soon!

  14. Oh my goodness Kim, in addition to being a stunning card, the sentiment is perfect! Yes, isn't 30 years ago the 1970's? I can totally relate! It's so good to know that I'm not alone. :)

  15. Your list of copic marker colors that match SU colors is great! I use it ALL the time as I feel that copics are much better to work with than the SU alcohol markers (and last longer). Thank you so much for taking the time to make this list as it is a big help to me. Thanks again!
