Freshly Made Sketches: Thinking of You

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today we have a sketch by Linda.

I am still struggling with a total lack of mojo.  It's been a month that crafting has seemed like a chore.  Ugh.  Today was no exception.  I knew exactly what I was doing with this sketch and I confidently pulled out a stencil and my stash of Distress Oxides.  I also knew I needed a Thinking of You card for a friend so that narrowed down the sentiment.  How hard could it be?  Two full hours later - I managed to put together a color combo that I liked, brush on four stripes and stamp a sentiment without leaving fingerprints.  We won't talk about all of the false starts during that process!  This should have been a 10-minute card!!

The final struggle was finding purple cardstock for the strip.  I'm very matchy-matchy.  How is that I have complete sets of cardstock from five companies and there wasn't a single one in the same purple-tone as the Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide ink? This one at least coordinates but I really wanted something a bit softer.

OK, I'm done complaining.  The reality is that I've been passionate about this hobby for 15+ years.  A little lack of mojo here and there is to be expected.  Luckily there are fabulous stamps and beautiful inks and wonderful die cuts and other tools - so even when the process isn't feeling quite right for me, I can get something together.

I hope to see you playing along - and I hope you thoroughly enjoy the process of creating your card!!

  1. Don't feel bad over a card or two. I've got a couple of half-finished cards sitting in my drawer and they've been there for several months. I pull them out, and Mr. Mojo takes a vacation day. This one's a beauty. I love how your greens and purples run into each other on your horizontal and vertical strips. I also love how you like to be matchy-matchy. I'm the same way, lol!! Sometimes, and don't forget this...those CAS cards take longer than those with a thousand layers! Your sense of style and design are always there. Take a deep breath and relax. With cards like this pretty one, you're always a success. Love this one! xo Bev

  5. Thank you for putting into words my own lack of mojo struggles! And I hear you about the matching cardstock. I've got so much of it and still find myself at sea sometimes when I'm trying to match certain ink colors. The good news is that close enough is good enough and nobody notices that it's not an exact match but you! I think this card is fabulous and that scripty sentiment is making me want to go shopping!

  6. I love your honestly and had to laugh a few times because I could hear myself saying those same words so I can so relate. I feel like if I go too long without creating something it takes me longer to get the rhythm going again.(At least that's what I tell my husband LOL) But your card is lovely :)
