Taylored Expressions January Sneak Peeks 1: On the Road and Happy New Home

Today is the first day of sneak peeks for the Taylored Expressions' January release (release day is Thursday!!) and it's my first day on the Baker's Dozen design team!   I've been playing with the new stamps, dies, paper and sequins for the last few weeks and it's a fun release!!

This release is all about the very popular petite stamp set and die series - smaller stamp sets with coordinating dies to make your life easier.  There is also some new patterned paper sets and dies. There is so much in this release that each designer has been assigned a subset - be sure to check out all of the other designers on each day of the sneak peeks to get a full view of everything that will be available on Thursday, January 8th at 7 a.m. PST. Start on the Taylored Expressions blog and follow all of the links.

BIG NEWS

Taylored Expressions is celebrating Release Week with some fabulous giveaways! Visit the TE Blog each Sneak Peek Day this week for details on how you can enter to win.

Also - I have linked all of my Taylored Expressions supplies in the list at the bottom of this post, but keep in mind the links to new products will not work until release day.

Today I get to preview the new stamp/die set Happy New Home and the die set On the Road, plus a new paper set named Build a Scene.

New Home by Kim Singdahlsen

Happy New Home is a petite set with charming houses and multiple sentiments.  The dies work with the houses!  I love the median on the On the Road dies.  (It's the straight strip across the bottom - check out the next card to see it as a true curvy road.)  The brick paper is from Build a Scene - isn't it vivid?

I did use a few older products on this card.  I've always thought that companies get their money's worth when I am a designer because I spend so much getting a complete supply of their products!  The tag is the Luggage Tags dies.  It comes in a set of this big one and a smaller one.  I thought it would be great to frame any stamp.  Imagine how excited I was when one of the new release sets included a moving theme making the luggage tag just right!  I've also used Banner Stacklets 2 to create the sentiment flag.  Be sure to check out this die set - the smaller ones are simply rounded as is show here.  The bigger ones have a unique shape that nicely frames the smaller ones.  I've used them quite a bit because I love the shape - you can see the bigger ones on this post.

The cardstock is also Taylored Expressions.  The dark gray is Poppy Seed. The luggage tag is Toffee. And, of course, there is plain white Sugar Cube.

You can pick up rolls of my favorite Hemptique cord at Taylored Expressions too.  This is the Natural color.  The ribbon is from my stash.

Another sentiment that came in the Happy New Home set is "Thank you for your hospitality".  I think the rest of the design team thought I was a little crazy when we were all chatting about the new release and I was giddy over this simple sentiment.  Don't get me wrong - the images, dies, papers, etc. are all wonderful - but it is really hard to find a "hospitality" sentiment!!  So I had to use it and created this cheerful little scene.

This set also uses Happy New Home but in a bright and cheerful color scheme. I picked out one house (and used its coordinating die) and the cute little cloud is included in the set.  I've used the curvy On the Road die.  I've also used the previously released die set Rolling Hills which coordinates perfectly with this road die.  Also notice the fun papers from the Build a Scene paper pack.  There is a cloud paper too but I decided to use the previously released Diagonal Stripe embossing folder to mimic the rays of the sun and for a little more texture.  Taylored Expressions also has sequins that coordinate with their designer papers and the Build a Scene Sequins includes blues, whites and clear sequins.

The cardstock that I used is Poppy Seed, Lollipop and Salt Water Taffy.  I used the Banner Stacklets 2 die again and this time I used White Hemp cord. The button is from my stash.

I hope you have had fun on Day 1.  There are three more days of sneak peeks this week, so keep checking back!  And don't forget to head over to the Taylored Expressions blog for a complete blog roll of our participating designers!

  13. Such fabulous cards, Kim. You've showcased the houses wonderfully; I wouldn't mind finding a 'big version' of the little two storey to live in...so inviting!
