Freshly Made Sketches: With Sympathy

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!

Last week, I did this post with three sympathy cards in gray and yellow.  Sadly, even as I was doing that post, I learned that I needed one more sympathy card - the loss of one of our older church members.  I first met Jackie when she showed up for our monthly church cardmaking group.  She walked in with her big glasses, leaning on her cane, and I have to admit to stifling a groan.  My "groan" was probably justified in that she just couldn't see well enough to make a card that we could sell as a fund-raiser, but she loved every single moment of it and came for almost a year.  She only quit coming when her Bridge group changed their meeting days and nothing was allowed to get in the way of Bridge.  In the years since, she has never failed to track me down and say "hello" on Sundays or any church event.  She was always cheerful and perky, a stylish dresser and very active - she was even at Bible study they day before she died.  She was so full of life - she showed me exactly how I want to age.

For her card, I wanted a slightly more modern look to honor her "style".  I found this stamp in a Simon Says Mother's Day set - but I loved the look and wanted a yellow rose for "remembrance".  I stuck with my sympathy color scheme of gray and yellow.

In following the sketch, I wanted to splatter something around the rose.  The stamp set came with those little circles.  I colored them in , then added a little Glossy Accent and a sprinkle of glitter.  The sentiment is just regular ink, then I used clear embossing powder before it dried on the vellum. The die for the sentiment is a coordinating die to a Hero Arts set called Sending You Love which appears to be retired. (The MFT die set listed below is for the stitched frame around the card.)
