Freshly Made Sketches: So Very Thankful

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!

I came up with today's sketch!  I can't say it's the most exciting sketch that you'll ever see, but I did it for one reason - I absolutely have to start using my patterned paper. I have such a tough time layering papers. I watch others do multiple layers of wildly different papers and I love their card. I try the same thing and it looks awful. So I decided to lay out a sketch with a color block motif so that I could use patterned paper. Selfish of me, huh?! When the paper is separated by a white band in a color blocked layout - I like it!

FMS Thankful

I so love fall colors and I loved this pad of paper when I bought it. Then it just sat there and taunted me.  I love the plaid; that's a nice basic pattern that I can easily use. But it's beyond me to use a paper with a design - like the floral border or the little animals. This color-blocked type layout works for that and these cute little animals made their debut.

I hope to see you playing along. You don't have to use patterned papers like I did - be sure to check out what the other designers did because they are all amazing and creative uses of this sketch. And I love looking at the gallery over the course of the week - I get so much inspiration from seeing how the entire FMS community handles each sketch!

Have fun!

  12. I know exactly what you mean about combining different patterned papers. It always looks so good when other people do it but when I try it's a big mess. I think you've discovered the secret for us, though, with your color block layout. What an ingenious way to show off those designs!
