Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Shades

It's time for a new challenge at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Shades.

My plan for this one came pretty quickly - mostly because I love woodgrain backgrounds and I happened to have this set of three dies on my desk when I first saw the inspiration photo.  The colors gave me a little trouble.  I originally started with a plain wood background paper and tried to match the glasses exactly with tan and brown.  It seemed so dark and somber, and I realized that I have made a big mental switch from browns to grays.  I used to have a favorite brown cardstock that came out on virtually every card - but now I actually had problems finding it - strange how tastes change, isn't it?

Anyway, I went digging my piles of paper and saw this printed woodgrain.  I don't use a lot of paper with scenes like this - but in this case, it solved all of my problems - LOVE the print and the woodgrain!  Plus it allowed me to go back to my beloved grays!!  I hope you can still see the inspiration in my card even though it took a few twists and turns along the way.

CC Hi Hey Hello

I hope to see you playing along this week!  Those are some cute sunglasses by which to be inspired!

SUPPLY LIST

This must be an older patterned paper because I can't find a 6x6 pad to link to, although there are a number of sites with bits and pieces.  It's Simple Stories The Story of Us.
